BeenVerified.com is a privately owned and funded, New York based company dedicated to building the easiest and safest way for everyone to share their identity and accomplishments online.

We created the best portable online identity verification tool on the internet. BeenVerified is used for establishing trust when meeting, hiring or dating online. Like sunscreen for going to the beach or a bike helmet for riding a bike, you don’t have to use it, but it makes the process safer for everyone.

Unfortunately, the Internet was not built with a way to prove your identity or credentials. So we built it.

Not only is a service such as BeenVerified necessary but it needed to be built with security and privacy in mind, so we built that too. Every member has complete control over who sees what information about them and can manage their settings at any time.

BeenVerified was founded in early 2007 with the idea that there had to be a better way to prove your credentials online. The founders each had many online experiences where the current “flying-blind” method of trust was just not working for them; so they decided to do something about it!

Joshua Levy — Founder, Chief Executive Officer

Josh combines his passion for Web technology and experience in finance to help the team look at BeenVerified from multiple perspectives. Having spent the dot com boom as a founding pioneer of an online video and social networking site he is experienced with the fast-paced world of startups. His company was one of the first to implement online video advertising for companies like Yahoo, Netzero, and BIC.

Ross Cohen — Founder, VP Business Development

Ross brings over 10 years of experience building and operating profitable Web-based properties. He was one of the first entrepreneurs to recognize the opportunity that the overseas outsourcing community offered as a viable cost-effective work force. Ross has spent his career building one of the largest web-based research businesses that employs over 200 freelance writers located throughout the world. From his vast work experience, he realized that finding talent that was honest about their credentials was the largest hurdle for small businesses to overcome when working with the freelance market.

Daniel Levy — Chief Financial Officer, Board of Advisors

Mr. Levy is a Certified Public Accountant with qualifications in business development, general operations, and P&L management. Dan began his public accounting career at PriceWaterhouse and has attained more than 25+ years experience in business. Mr. Levy currently serves as CFO of a leading investment and financial services company for the orthopedic industry. He has served as the CFO of a major franchise company and two prominent media companies. Mr. Levy has been involved in two Public Offerings, licensing & distribution agreements, and numerous mergers and acquisitions.

Jason Amster — Chief Technology Officer

Jason has been developing secure, scalable web applications for over 12 years. He was previously the head of interactive development at Redken & Pureology, subsidiaries of L'Oreal. Jason has launched several sites for a conglomerate of global corporate brands, including the Webby Award winning RedkenColor.com. As the Interactive Marketing Manager, Jason ran multiple online advertising and search engine marketing campaigns. He oversaw a team of developers and designers to create a host of web-based productivity tools for their internal corporate staff and sales force. His skills and expertise can be found in almost all programming languages such as .NET, ColdFusion, Java, PHP and of course the wonderful world of Ruby.

Bill Washburn, Ph.D. — Board of Advisors

William (Bill) is the Executive Director at OpenID Foundation and Chair of the Board at XDI.org. Bill arrived on the Internet officially as the first Executive Director of the Commercial Internet Xchange (CIX) Association – the non-profit global trade organization of Internet service providers (ISPs) in the early 1990s. CIX and it’s leading members successfully led the effort to allow commercial and private use of the Internet.
